“The Floating Clinic is owned by Dr. German Agravante through the Floating Clinic Foundation.” It was first established as the “The Floating Clinic” that was founded by Dr. German Agravante who was born and raised in the Bicol region. As a student, during his internship in the biggest hospital in Bicol, he encountered patients from all over the six provinces of Bicol. However, he observed that there is a lack of both medical supplies and personnel to cater the intense number of patients. This is a common concern but the one that stands out are the patients from remote areas that are separated from the main lands of the region.

This has been his mission in life that he had established through time. Some colleagues have joined him to help those people in need of healthcare. A noble cause from his noble heart, what he started continues to thrive and reach the hearts of people all throughout the Bicol region.

This project was initiated by Dr. Agravante and continued by the Bicol University- College of Medicine shares the advocacies of the BUEMD. Because of that the BUEMD supported the vision that the BU Heals Projects aims and until now, they continue to know the challenged and problems of the community and institution, inform the results of their research, plan to take action of the identified challenges and problems and actualize as it is the need of the institution and community.

The visit is to ensure that the remote communities receive routinary checkups, health screenings, emergency care, and health education. Through this the project achieves early diagnosis to the locals and educates them for self management for disease prevention. Here, we can see the focus of community help especially in the context of healthcare for the people.
