RDMD Conducts Two-Day GAD Seminars on HIV Awareness and Anti-Violence Advocacy

The Research Development and Management Division (RDMD), under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), conducted a two-day Gender and Development (GAD) seminar titled “HIV 101: Know More, Fear Less” and “Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE): An Orientation” on January 7–8, 2026, at the BRFIC Amphitheater, Bicol University East Campus, Legazpi City.

The activities aimed to increase awareness and understanding of HIV, reduce stigma, and strengthen advocacy against violence, particularly violence against women and children (VAWC). These seminars sought to enhance the knowledge, awareness, and commitment of all the Divisions and DBRCs personnel to gender- and health-related concerns in support of a safer and more inclusive academic community.

The MOVE Orientation, held on January 8, 2026, featured discussions on GAD-related laws, the MOVE Community-Based Learning (CBL) framework, organizing MOVE-BU, the background of the MOVE advocacy, and family life and financial management. The session was led by external resource persons from the Philippine National Police (PNP), including Mr. Raymund A. Salire, DMO III and President of MOVE–Albay, and PLTCOL Frande G. Echaluce, former PNP-MOVE President (PROV), who shared valuable insights on men’s roles in preventing violence and promoting gender-responsive behavior.

Through these initiatives, RDMD continues to advance GAD-responsive programs that foster awareness, responsibility, and collective action toward a healthy, gender-sensitive, and violence-free university community.
