The Bicol University Ethics Review Board (BUERB) plays a critical role in ensuring the ethical conduct of research involving human participants within the university. With the recent constitution of new discipline-based panels, it is essential to provide core and alternate members with a comprehensive orientation. This orientation will equip them with the necessary knowledge and understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and the ethical guidelines governing research review. This activity ensures the BUERB operates effectively and efficiently, upholding the highest standards of ethical research practices. The objectives are to discuss the composition of the newly organized BUERB, to inform the BUERB core members of their functions and responsibilities, to discuss the BOR-approved Manual of Policies, Guidelines, and SOPs, to discuss the BUERB review process and types of review, including post-approval review, monitoring, and evaluation, and to discuss the PHREB accreditation process and requirements. It was held on June 30, 2025 to July 1, 2025 at Hotel Lucca, Legazpi City.
