BU-CTCED hosts Benchmarking Visit from Technology Management and Commercialization Offices of Western Philippines University and Technological University of the Philippines

Legazpi City, Philippines – April 30, 2025 — Bicol University – CTCED welcomed representatives from the Technology Management and Commercialization Office of the Western Philippines University (WPU) and the University Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) for a two-part benchmarking activity held on April 8 and April 30, 2025. The visit aimed to foster inter-university collaboration and knowledge exchange on best practices in Technology Business Incubation (TBI), technology transfer, and commercialization strategies of academic institutions.

During the visit, Bicol University showcased its innovation ecosystem, including its operational frameworks, incubation programs, intellectual property management processes, and tech transfer and commercialization initiatives. The discussions served as a platform for the visiting institutions to gain valuable insights into how BU integrates research, innovation, and enterprise development to achieve impact-driven results.

The event not only highlighted BU’s proactive approach to research utilization and industry engagement but also opened doors for future partnerships among the two institutions in the areas of innovation policy, startup incubation, and technology-driven development. The successful visit reinforced the growing network of higher education institutions working together to advance technology commercialization and entrepreneurial initiatives across the country.
