𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 | Storytelling for Change: Educators and Pre-Service Teachers Embrace GCED

The 2025 Pedagogy Lecture cum Teaching Demonstration kicked off on June 26, 2025, at Hotel Lucca, Legazpi City, bringing together 49 participants—24 via Zoom and 25 onsite (19 teachers and 6 students)—for a full day of immersive learning on integrating Global Citizenship Education (GCED) with AI-powered storytelling.

Highlights of the day included engaging lectures on:

🔹 Foundations of GCED by Ms. April T. Belarmino, Teacher III at Daraga National High School.

🔹 Pedagogies of GCED by Dr. Rebecca Rosario O. Bercasio, Director of BU CTE

🔹 Writing Stories for Young Learners by Ms. Cindy Grace M. Villanueva, Instructor III at Southern Luzon State University (SLSU)

✍️ Participants then joined interactive workshops on:

🔸 Story Frameworks Aligned with GCED Values – Ms. Marinel A. Dugan, Teacher I at Sorsogon National High School

🔸 Designing Prompts for AI Story Generation – Dr. Rebecca Rosario O. Bercasio, Director of BU CTE

🔸 Critiquing and Revising Stories – Assoc. Prof. Theresa Raneses, Bicol University

The lectures and workshops aimed to deepen educators’ and students’ understanding of GCED, apply AI tools for creative instruction, develop story frameworks, and promote empathy, peace, and sustainability in teaching. They also sought to build the capacity of educators in integrating GCED and AI-powered storytelling techniques into their classrooms.

This event was organized by the Bicol University Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) in partnership with LEAD-GCED, NCBUCP, Inc., and the Bicol Regional Hub for GCED.
